Default Clay Bars

I hear clay bars can damage paint and glass?

They are supposed to be abrasive. I heard from this one guy who worked in car detail for 5 years and worked on exotics that he used a claybar on a Ferrari windshield and it glazed it over. Unless that thing was lexan, I dont see how it could damage paint. he also told me that you can only use a claybar ones a year and it will damage the paint if not done right.....

I call bs. anyone confirm?

lol, why the hell would he use it on the windshield? the spray is probably oil based or something similar that will not come off the windshield meaning it'll fog up easily.

i've done it to my car about 3-5 times since last year and no problems, makes the paint feel great, i dont see how it'd damage the paint unless used wrong.

here are a few ways I think it can ruin your paint:

You dont wash your car throughly and the clay picks yp EXCESSIVE dirt and you rub it into the paint

You have a dirty clay bar

You dont lubricate well.

Otherwise, Claying my car once a month has worked well for me, it makes waxing so much easier.

Taking off a layer of glass? I hope common sense answered that one for you.
