type r rear sway bar install
Just got a 23mm jdm type r rear sway bar which i plan to install this weekend in a dc2 chassis. My question is will this be a direct bolt on without the use of a mounting kit from bsq or another manufacturer? Im buying new endlink and sway bushings from Acura prior to install, will the OEM usdm bushing fit the bar properly or will they have to be modified? Ive also heard from tons of people i should buy a support brace to prevent chassis tearout, but dosnt the usdm/jdm itr share the exact same chassis mounting points as any dc2 coupe chassis? any help would be appreciated

You definitely WILL need some sort of mount/reinforcement kit. The ITR rear subframe is very different from non-R's, as it has flat mounting surfaces for the sway bar bushing D-brackets. Non-R's use ghey standoff brackets that mount the bar out away from the subframe, which will cause the bar to pull away and tear out of the subframe if you use them with a larger bar.
As for bushings, I would just go with Energy Suspension 23mm bushings with grease fittings on them. That way you can easily stick a grease gun onto the D-bracket every now and then and grease them up to ensure that they don't squeak or prematurely wear out.

Money is an issue what are the prices like for these mounting kits and what are my options. Ive been receiving a LOT of mixed information from local speed shops on the correct way to do this. Any cheap alternatives to this kit? If not i guess i will custom fab a mounting kit of my own so that it sits flush like the itr. I will be going with the 23mm bushings with the grease fittings, sounds like a good choice. If i use an ASR style brace would i be able to directly mount the sway bar to the none itr chassis?

Yeah the ASR brace is probably the best, strongest solution, but is also the most expensive. The cheapest solution is the BSQ kit at $20. I used to run that myself, until I switched to the more robust Beaks kit, for no reason other than I had $60 sitting in my PayPal account that I had forgotten about.
one last question, are the jdm type r rear sway endlink bushings the same as the usdm ones? mine are slightly cracked and want to grab new ones but i dont want to wait 2 weeks for a local speed shop to order them from japan land. thx

I believe they are the same. Can't hurt to spend a few dollars to see if they work.

Old thread. But it should bolt right up as long as your control arms have holes for endlinks. The ASR brace is great. Bolt that on first, then install the LCAs and then the bushings onto the swaybar, into the brackets, bolt brackets onto ASR brace, and finally endlinks.

What parts are we talking about when you say GS-R mounting components? If it's those brackets the stock GS-R swaybar mounts to, DO NOT PUT THOSE ON THE CAR!!!!!! Toss them in the trash, or sell them with a stock GS-R sway bar or something. But those brackets will rip out of the subframe with a quickness if you try to use them with an ITR sway bar.
