buddy needs to get his bike painted.
all the plastics will be painted... due to him dropping it a couple times and wanting a change.
ball park figure on how much paint will cost to buy and how much is needed to spray all the plastics?
we got a buddy who works in a shop who will take care of the labor. so just ballpark figure on paint cost and how much.....
also, the color will be a basic color with lots of metallic and flake in the paint.
-thanx

Can't he provide you with an estimate? It seems he would be best qualified to answer your question.

the kidd with the bike wants to paint it some basic color with flake and metallic or w/e.
i'm trying to convince him to paint the bike flat black.... it might even be cheaper, i imagine. (not a krylon paintjob)
but yea. ... ball park figures on flat black paint and basic paint for full plastics ... and how much to buy?

I was just looking at another thread on "flat black", and i think it was said that flat black would probably cost the same as most other basic colors if not more, due to the fact that there isn't an actual "flat black" paint. Is has to be mixed by the painter.
Well even a basic color with metal flake in it has to be mixed by hand, so the flake is gonna kick the price up considerably... But for a good quality paint in any "basic" color is a couple hundred bucks a gallon (whereas some fancier colors, i.e. metallics and licensed colors can easily be anywhere from 500 to over a thousand) but you won't need anywhere near a gallon for a bike unless you put 15 coats on... plus fillers, primers, clearcoats, sandpaper, any other necessary materials...
Edit: For example, my brother was going to paint his truck that metallic burnt orange color that Corvettes come in, but decided against it because it was $700/gal
If cost is an issue, I would recommend sticking with a straight gloss color like red, blue, yellow, etc. If you want gloss black you have to be careful because black shows EVERY imperfection.
