Alt Belt
Was wondering if there are any tricks in knowing if the belt is too tight or too lose.. I know that if its too lose it makes a squeak sound when u start up, and i heard if its too tight ur idle kinda of sucks and feels like it will boggle out. Just wondering sense i just replaced timing belt and water pump and put everything back on, before i did this car started up with no squeaks or "boggle" problems, after reading the guide touringaccord wrote he does say something about 1/2inch something something lol.. anyways i didn't really get it and i don't have that tool they show in the manual. It just sightly squeaks for a split second when started it don't squeak when idle or no more then literally half a second, never done that until now, im sure it isn't a big deal but id rather have no squeaks or worry if my belt is too lose.. Should i just turn the adjust screw one turn until it stop squeaking? or is there tricks.. let me know
i tried searching and accord faq's but never found any "tricks" i just know the basics of why it squeaks and stuff.
thanks in advanced

what i think touring accord was talking about is belt deflection.......
the belt shouldnt be able to move more than a half inch in either direction when force is applied to the half way mark between the pulleys. More times than not the belt squeaks because its too tight.
as already suggested readjust the belt.
