Default complete koni coilovers, on tirerack.com

Anybody have an opinion of these coilovers sold on tirerack.com? I'm choosing between them and koni/gc setup. The complete koni kit uses koni sports, they're just chrome instead of yellow. I believe the main difference is the use of a progressive spring, but I don't know the spring rates.

Ultimate flexibilty in spring rates will be achieved going the GC/Koni route. You get to pick the rates and change them alter on depending on what you finds your needs to be.

What kind of driving are you planning on doing? Daily? Track? What percentage of each? If it mostly daily the off-the-shelf GC ktis will be fine with the standard 380lb/in front rates and the 250lb/in rear rates so long as you dont lower it too much. If you plan to tuck tire or sit flush to them, You're going to want to up the rates to 450lb/in front or higher and 350lb/in in the rear to help prevent it from bottoming out.

I want to be able to drive the car to the track without feeling like it's coming apart at the seems but still not have too much body roll on the track. I was thinking about going stiffer in the rear and if you're saying I should start at 450 f, that means about 500 r i'm guessing. I would like to lower the car just enough to not see wheel gap, but def not tucked.

450F/500R is a pretty good comprimise for a track car that is driven to events. It will feel kinda harsh on the streets but jsut tune the damping/rebound in the rear down like 1/2 from soft until you get to the track turn it up another 1/2 turn stiff. Some people crank up the rebound all teh way but too much rebound damping is a bad thing it will create a 'jack-down' effect not lettting the suspension to come out of compression fast enough before the next bump, therefore jacking down the suspensuion until bind.

450F/500R is what I'm going to be runnign real soon for the summer.

right now i have tein ra coilovers but i'm selling them to my friend, so 450f/500r is actually a lot softer than my current 780f/550r. I think I'll be happy, thanks for your input. Oh, one more thing, u think gc tophats are needed with this setup?

Only in the front unless you need to eliminate some droop in the rear as well. If you get the shortened and spss3 valved dampers, you do not need the top hats.

Droop is how much the suspension hangs when there is no load on it. Like if you were to jack up the corner and let the suspenion hang, how much does it hang is called droop. You neither want too little or too much droop.
