How stiff are oem shocks?

Default How stiff are oem shocks?

i got oem shocks off a 97+ Prelude with 80k miles on it. how stiff are the shocks supposed to be? i could push each shock down with not that much force. they all come up but not that fast. wondering if they're blown. let me know guys. thanks.

All shocks will compress and come back up by hand. If they're not leaking oil, then I'd say they're not blown.. hard to tell if they are deteriorating though. You'd have to ride on them and see how it feels.

The main thing to look for would be to make sure that they're not leaking and that they compress/decompress smoothly.
