I would hope there's another answer ... because that one is wrong.

EK's are hatches and coupes sold in Europe, UK, Asia, Japan, etc .... basically everywhere but the America's.

EJ's are the USDM/CDM counterpart of the EK.

EK's have various models, features, motors, interior colors, etc. that the EJ's do not. There's really WAY to many to list.

If you want a more specific answer, you'll need to compare TWO cars, not two series of cars. For example, "What's the differences between an EK4 and an EJ6?"

Look at the chassis thread linked in my sig.

6th gen Civics incude cars with chassis codes beginning with EJ, EK, EM and EN. It just so happens the majority of the ones sold in the US were EJs (EM1s being the 99-00 USDM Si coupe and similar DOHC VTEC coupe models overseas and the EN1s being the USDM 98-00 GX sedan). The EK models were sold virtually everywhere else on earth.

EK models are not always "better" than our US counterparts though. Many EK chassis cars come with 1.5L SOHC engines or even 1.3L SOHC engines.

EK chassis only include hatches and sedans. Meanwhile, the EJ chassis includes hatches, sedans and coupes.

Even the coupes sold in Japan are EJ7s (the same code as our 96-00 HX coupes).

There is nothing different between the chassis really. EKs can have SOHC engines or DOHC engines. EJs only have SOHC engines. The EM1 is always a DOHC VTEC coupe model. Teh EN1 is only the natural gas powered GX model sold in the US (as far as I know it was not sold elsewhere).

An EK doesn't have to be from Japan and it doesn't have to be RHD.

EM1s overseas can be RHD or LHD.
