Default apex n1 cat-back...

i just received this today and i was checking it out...i noticed that the one end had a triangle connector instead of the regular two-holed oval-like end...it is the end where springs are with the bolts...if you know what i'm talking about at all, then please tell me what i should do...how should i go ahead with the install? please help..thanks

MODS: if you feel that this should go in tech feel free to move it...i just put it here because it seems like more people check here!

you are going to have to take the car to a muffler shop and have the correct piece welded onto your factory piping. I have an N1 on my hatch and I had to have it cut and a plate welded to match up to the N1's piping. Just one of those things.

ok here is your deal. your VX has the classic header-cat combo so the b-pipe is longer. they sent you the cat-back for the DX/Si which has the cat under the car so the piping is shorter and is the 3 bolt not the 2. if you want factory fitment and don't want to hack up your N1, send it back and have them send you the N1 for a 96-98 Civic CX/DX Hatchback. it will bolt up just fine and the b-pipe is longer and will run right upto your downpipe and connect with the 2 spring bolts. hope that made sence.

here is a pic i made a while ago to help point this out...

thanks man...i dont really feel like sending it back because optauto is in kali and im all the way in jersey...so if i take it to the muffler shop...what exactly are they going to do? and is my n1 still going to look and perform the same way?? thanks man

or is there anything i can add to make it longer for fit...

If you take it to the muffler shop, they are going to cut your factory exhaust and weld the 3 bolt fitting onto your factory exhaust so it will bolt up to your N1's piping. They might put in flex piping which is really better or you will end up with broken exhaust hangers like my car if your motor flexes enough. It will perform just fine. Don't expect a huge difference in performance with the exhaust though. Its still a VX motor.

just go to a junkyard and buy an EX/Si header and cat. that would solve your problem

If you can remedy the situation with an EX/SI header than try it. If not, I would just send the exhaust back and tell them to give you the "correct" one. I would not have a muffler shop cut up and hack a brand new exhaust system I paid $500 and change for.. Just MO.. Good luck.

so you're sure that the 96-98 cat-back will bolt right up to the 92-95 no problem?? i might go this route...

ex/si header and cat

or

96-98 cat-back...which one should i do??

umm....cutting the apexi exhaust would be stupid. the muffler shop will cut the "factory" exhaust to fit to the apexi n1. do what you want but you are wasting your time and money for shipping if you send it back.
