Blowby? How old is your lower end?

It sounds like some oil is getting into the cylinder somehow for sure, and thats the obvious.

Good luck.

Well, its hard to tell from your description.

Head Cylinder work? They are one, or the other, not both

If you got the head worked on at a machine shop, they should have checked the seals.

But start with the plugs, see what they look like, then compression check, then leakdown test, etc etc.

white smoke means burning coolant. blue means oil. do compression and leakdown tests.

well for the smart people in down, any WORKING VTEC- V-TEC will smoke a bit, not pour smoke out but let someone drive your car and watch when they hit vtec it happens a swear. my friends LS dosent, but when he put the Vtec head on it it DID so thats why not alot but some, Vtec uses oil from the oil jet, vtec burns that oil and comes out your exhaust as smoke. SWEAR 2 GOD

blue smoke is oil. white smoke is either coolant or a lean engine. do a leakdown test and see if it hisses from the valve cover. there is a writeup on how to do one in the faq section.

if it hisses out of the valve cover it is defective rings and or valve stem seals

yes vtec motors smoke when popping vtec, BLACK SMOKE which some people think is oil but is actually FUEL, your ecu dumps more fuel for vtec. some unburned fuel exits via the tail pipe, KNOWN AS BLACK SMOKE.

you're seriously telling me vtec burns oil for the extra power?

the only thing the oil does to help vtec engage is to push the piston in the rockers into position to lock them and enable the secondary lobe.

what oil jets are you talking about?

if engines burn oil when vtec engages, tell me why i dont burn any? bone stock internals. never been rebuilt. 60k+ miles on it.

Uhhhh, Vtec doesn't make smoke come out. That stems from other problems.

It could be anything from o2 sensors to carbon buildup.

I like how everyone with a n00b avatar is arguing that it does.

here's a thought, MAYBE the reason vtec engines burn oil is because they've got lots of miles on them and the seals arent exactly in the best of shape. do you know that ivtec engages vtec the same way regular vtec does? the only difference is vtc. but you knew that already didnt you?

It's official, you're seals are likely worn or are being held together by carbon build-up.

Wow , this is why I dont come to honda-tech with my problems because it it full of ******* morons

Vtec does not cause your car to smoke , if you are blowing any color of smoke its because there is mechanical problem with your car or you have done the tuning yourself.

My car blows lots of black smoke , it must be burning OIL FOR EXTRA POWA hahah tards

Ok, well take it from someone with a n00b avatar. Vtec doesn't make smoke magically appear from your exhaust. End of story.
