I'm having trouble getting my bike to shift to first to 2nd at higher rpms, and somtimes lower rpm's as well, like it just gos to neutral. Only had bike for like a month. Is this normal? Maybe I'm not hitting the shifter hard enough with my foot.

 

Sounds like a problem with shifting, not the tranny. Just like driving a manual car, you'll have to learn how do it over time. I wouldn't worry about, keep riding and you'll get better.
