Default Need help with timing belt marks

Hey guys,
I'm trying to install a timing belt on a 95 civic with the 1.5 and am having a hrad time getting the TDC marks aligned. Everytime I line up the crank and cam marks then go to tension the belt, the crank marks move.

What marks do I use, the line on the crank pulley and the belt cover? Or the line on the crank gear and oil pump?

What I do is take the sparkplug out of the #1 cylinder(closest to cam gears) and then stick a long screwdriver in the sparkplug hole and rotate the crank till the screwdriver is at its highest point, and that is TDC...hope that helps

There is a mark on the timing belt crank gear, and an arrow on the oil pump housing, sometimes its painted red so it can be seen easier. TO put the belt on right, route the belt along the crank gear on the exhaust manifold side first, the over the top on the cam gear. This way, if the crank turns, it should also pull the camshaft keeping it in time. then route it over the water pump, over the tensioner, and pull the tensioner tight for now, and lock it in. Rotate the crank to seat the belt at least twice, and check the make sure your in time. If you are, your good, reset the belt tension by applying pressure counterclockwise (turn it until the crank gear moves like three teeth, this is done to prevent any slack from being on the non-tensioner side of the belt, which will cause slop after a while.) Bolt down the tensioner, and your done.

Thanks for the help. It ended up being that I was using the wrong timing marks on the cam get, throwing everything off. Its on, running good, and done!
