wierd civic hx wheel problem
so i purchased my favorite oem honda wheel, the hx's, and i have a strange problem. my rear is making a humming sound now kinda like if the wheel bearings were no good . wtf is the problem? did anyone have this problem?
I know what the prob is....
#1 they need to be sold to me for $150 shipped and that will take care of all your probs.
LOL nice rims but check bearings first or possibly e-brake cable not letting go all the way? If that doesn't fix it then you def need to look at #1

two things came to mind quick, a ur tires might b chopped (wearing unevenly) or b when you put them on did u torque them corretly? unproper torquing could lead to wheel bearings being stressed which can in turn damage them ... just food for thought

Patient, to Doctor: I have discomfort in my Toes. Can you tell me what's wrong?
Doctor, to Patient: Sure, let's take a looksie... (Inspects Foot)... Well, nothing seems to be wrong with your Toes. Did anything happen recently?
Patient: Well, I just had Knee Surgery... Do you think that has anything to do with it???
Doctor: (Sigh)...
I'd say replace your Rear Bearing/Hub Assembly, and be happy you don't have to do it for the Front! Let us know how things go!

In what order did you do the following?:
- Mount Tires onto HX Wheel
- Balance HX Wheels/Tires
- Place HX Wheels/Tires on Car
- Rear Disc Conversion
In some posts, it sounds like you had your HX Wheels BEFORE your Disc Swap, and in others it sounds like you did so simultaneously. We can help solve your problem if we had a clear idea as to when it started showing up.
The only things other than a Bad Bearing (and this would be the case ONLY IF you had this problem AFTER your swap (i.e. you had your HX Wheels on well before your disc swap, and this problem didn't arise)) are:
Uneven Air Pressure in your Tire
1 of 4 tires has is "different" (Tread Pattern, Brand, Composition, etc.)
But we can help you better if you give us more detail on the order of events (mods), and the behavior of the car after each one. Good Luck!

JasonGhostz</TD></TR></TABLE>ok here goes the order of events:
1. i bought the hx wheels with tires (have not balanced them yet). i had fat fives before i put the hx wheels on and the problem never happend
2.i then bolted up the hx wheels and the humming began instantly
3. i then did my rear disc conversion and put the hx wheels back on and the humming did not go away
soo being that my mom tells me im really smart im lead to believe that it is not my wheels bearings. i also checked (while the car was on the ground of course)if the wheels were rubbing in any way with anything and they are not.

Unless you know the tires came to you balanced, it's always a good idea to get them balanced. In any case, make sure that all tires are of the same type, treadwear, and air pressure. These things can contribute to different noises coming from each.

This also means that, while the swapped Hub/Bearing Assembly from the Disc Brakes might be bad, it's not what's causing this noise. It marks the start of the symptoms, which will help us identify the cause.

How smart can Lead be, anyway??? Probably smarter than a Light Emitting Diode, right???
Just razzin...

When you bought these Tires, were they already mounted to the Wheel (sounds like it)? It's harder to tell with the Tire mounted, but sometimes Wheels get bent on the inside Rim (closest to the centerline).
In any case, you'll want to get your Wheels Balanced, and make sure you don't have any abnormalities with any of your Tires (particularly the Rear). A couple of other things I'm now thinking is if the same sound comes from the Front at all (even faintly over the Engine noise), or if it's only from the Rear? Also, are you sure it's not just attributable to running a different Brand (and Tread) of Tire? When I went to harder sidewalls, the in-cabin noise increased, and the ride got bumpier. Other than that, I'm stumped until you get your Wheels Balanced...
Let us know, and Good Luck!

the light emmitting diode is smart but not as smart as a intermitent duty split cycle dc shunt/series combination type generators used on aircraft flaps, starters and landing gear doors...lol, i think im going to switch the fronts to the back to see if th eproblem continues then ill get them balanced to diagnose this phucking ****
