Default 2007 Honda Civic EX Coupe

Hey guys. I'm thinking about picking up a 07 Civic EX Coupe, and I was wondering what you guys thought of it. Any input will be helpful. Pictures will also be helpful. Thanks.

Make sure you are OK with having a slow car. Enjoy the gas mileage. The car is beautiful. Do a search for more information.

I'm not looking to have a racecar you know? Just something I can cruise in and do some mods to it like HFP lip kit, foglights, rims, and stuff like that. Just a cruising car.

My mom has an 06 ex coupe. Yeah, it is slower than my Si, but it is AMAZING on gas. She has gotten 500mpt on that damn car, haha. If you get the manual, it IS peppy, but not fast. I enjoyed driving it...before I got my Si that is...

Love mine (07 2dr auto, Galaxy Gray). Bought it for mileage and looks.

Fast it ain't, coming from 10 year love affair with a 97 v6 Camry. But it looks great and I'm getting ~29mpg in town with AC, and that's with the HFP kit and 18". Sticks on the backroads like velcro. Manual would be more fun.

i have an ex coupe. no, it's not overly fast, but not SLOW SLOW SLOW like these SI guys preach.. Remember, the SI engine only puts out HOW much more power? Come on now boys. the r18 engine for what it is, is a great bang for your buck (engineering is top notch). the acura divisions technology getting pushed down into new honda's makes for these cars to feel like your driving something expensive, the gas mileage is AWSOME. If you know how to drive stick good, this car is pretty peppy, but it's not a quarter mile dragster, it's a traffic weaver, u will enjoy highway driving. But yah if you're not looking for something that goes like stink like u said u'll be pleased with its performance. Mine pulled on a new F150, advanced green and i was BEHIND him, we turned onto the freeway,he hammered the gas, came up beside him, 3rd gear and i was ahead by 1 1/2 lengths, proceeded to keep driving ahead the whole way. 1st time i opened the car up, and was really impressed... best car u can buy right now new for the price you're paying. not speed performance wise, but in everything else possible.

Yes, the Si is blisteringly fast, it's a steal at 21k, makes the Bugatti Veyron look like Grandma's Cadillac.

No i'm saying, realistically, the EX is about 1.2 seconds in the 1/4 behind the Si (14.9) without any mods. Then the Si people come in and talk about tuning and how that puts them into the mid 14's, bla bla bla.

The new Si is the best Si to date, but people are kidding themselves thinking it's fast, especially in today's saturated sport compact market.

Yeah I've test driven the SI when it first came out in '06, and I'll admit, it's nice & pretty fast for a Civic, but I don't need a racecar nor do I need my insurance skyrocketing just the fact that it holds tha "SI Name." But from what you guys are saying, the Civic EX Coupe sounds like a pretty nice car to have. Keep your inputs coming! Thanks.

OH YEAH! AND DON'T FORGET! PICTURES WILL BE HELPFUL AS WELL!

i love the fact i can play my ipod out of the speakers. my LX speakers are good enough but your gettin a EX, even better!

and the gas mileage is awesome, thats the only thing i have against my friends' gsr powered dc4, fg2, and mk5. lol

i can still keep up with them somewhat when we are all on the freeway.

enjoy your sunroof, rear discs, and steering wheel audio control. things that i dont have

edit there are some nice ones in the picture thread

don't get all huffy there guy... regardless of whether the Si is fast or not, the Ex is slower. 57hp is alot. You can't make up 57hp with bolt ons. No one here said the Si was "fast" just faster than the Ex. And if you are looking for a Honda to make "fast" the place to start is with the Si and not the Ex.

back to the original point. The OP is looking for a nice car to cruise around in and he's not worried about being the fastest guy on the block. The Ex gets you all the "luxuries" of the Si; like the better stereo, sunroof, and rear-discs. You just don't get the extra power (or cool seats ) but you do get better mileage and lower insurance.

OP: I think it's the perfect car for you, in fact I'd probably drive an Ex except my insurance is about the same no matter what I drive and I only have about a 10mile commute

That was really directed more at the smug *** Si owner who feels superior over the base Civic as if the engine was made out of solid gold on his. I'm not knocking Si's, but some of the egos here are overinflated.

The thing is the EX isnt a slow car by any means...even the Civic Hybrid, which is overall a faster car than the prius, takes an additional 3 seconds to get to 60 mph. It's faster than most commuter cars 20 years ago, and incredibly faster than the early hondas, such as the EF. Commuter cars are a lot faster than they used to be!

But anyways, peak torque of 128 lb/ft comes in at 4300 rpm on the R18, while peak torque of 139 ft/lbs comes in at a high 6100rpm on the Si. So in reality, in daily city driving, there won't be much of a difference between the cars. The 57hp is a big difference, but the Si is a high revving car, so for the average driver the EX is more than adequate.

The EX is the best choice imo. I've been in the LX, sedans, and hybrid, and the EX coupe is the most appealing to me. The sedan seats are so unsupportive, but the coupe seats pretty much hug me. It's a nice feeling car, and the features are great. The EX is the only model to come with a black interior besides the Si, and I think the black looks great.

My biggest gripe is the Civic steering wheel- those large spokes make it difficult for me to find a comfortable spot, I end up a little higher than 10 and 2 because the controls make those spokes so fat.

What do you pay around monthly on insurance and car payments? I know it's different for everyone depending on credit and driving record, but I was just curious as to see how much people were paying monthly for both of the mentioned above.

Of course the SI isn't a racecar. Plenty of cars that can beat it like the 350Z, S2K, WRX, etc., but I think that it's a lot of bang for it's buck. Especially since they increased the new Civic SI's by 37hp. I would say that 197hp is plenty for a Civic.

By what I'm reading, you guys make the Civic EX Coupe seem like the perfect car. It would be nice to have a faster car, but on the other hand, I'm not really into the whole speed thing. As long as my car LOOKS nice and drives like a dream, I'm satisfied. I drive an 01 Civic right now, and the new 06-07's sounds A LOT better than my 01 Civic hands down! Thanks for all your inputs! Keep em coming! Thanks.

I'm not sure why people have to come in here and knock the EX, comparing it with the SI.

Truth be told, I'm a touch disappointed with the speed of the SI. Sometimes it DOES get old having to hit 6k RPMS just to pass someone, and they think you're trying to race them. The car realistically needs to be hitting 220 WHP or so.

Get the EX if you want a fantastically well put together car for the price. I WOULD suggest the SI if you're looking for a car just to cruise in. It's fast enough to be just fun, nothing more. We aren't going to sit here and pretend it's a race-car.

buy the ex, it pretty much looks just like a Si in everyway, and you'll save more in the long run. Unless you are diehard about being fast, face it, there ain't a lot of places or chance out there to show it off on a public road. With the traffic where I'm living, you gonna be head to head with one during rush hours lol...

I hate the fact that Si looks almost exactly the same as regular civic, this takes away some of the coolness from the Si, but more power to the regular civics. You can even talk to the dealer to get those Si parts on your ex, so it came out just like the Si without the Si badge...

When I got my ex navi the guy asked if I want a SI with navi at the same price, so I'm assuming to the dealers ex navi = Si navi... each have their own pros and cons. Can't really tell which one is a better car considering all the facts besides just speed.

Even if I had the chance to pick up an SI, I most likely wouldn't. Just the fact that insurance would be higher, and to be honest, mines high enough as it is. Haha so I'm straight off paying hundreds more for it. I'm leaning pretty damn close to the EX Coupe right now anyways cause of everyones inputs. It's helping me out a lot.

OP, go test drive one. I did, and it was a really solid car. My big problem is I went out and test drove a Mazda3 wagon after that, and I liked the wagon more...dammit

Dude get out of here seriously. You are stuck in a fantasy world. Everyones car is slow respectively, but when you can't do a quarter mile in under 16.5 seconds, general rule is you are SLOW. lol. I admit you can probably beat most ricers out there.

MY SI IS SLOW (compared to my friend's cars.)

I had a 2003 D17 EX and the 0-60 is the same of that on a R18 Civic. Don't forget not only is it faster, it handles 100x better too? (once again my car sucks at handling comparing to my friends cars)

But anyways lets not turn this into a "R18 civics have m4d vtak p0wa" discussion. This guy wants opinions on a 07 ex so...

You will have a car to go from point a to point b and save a lot of money, especially if you get the 5 speed. The interior is beautiful, sometimes I wish I could have the blue gauges, those are really cool. Sound system is the same in an SI, so you are going to have a kick *** stock sound system... Lets see, did I mention coupes are beautiful?

Thanks for all your inputs which I greatly appreciated, but I just hit a huge financial problem which will not allow me to afford the Civic EX Coupe at this time. Sucks cause I'm pretty damn sad over this, and I was gonna pick it up sometime this week, but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Haha, but once again, thanks for all your inputs.

Referring to insurance, I dont remember because its on a family plan along with a 2000 Si and 2003 Pilot. I do know it was cheaper than my 2002 dodge ram quad cab 4x4 I traded in for it though. A lot cheaper!
You saw my pics, I love the car. I dont regret not getting the white Si that was beside mine at the dealer. Ill make some suspension mods, wheels/tires and intake/exhaust and thats it, doesnt need much more!

So thats my input!
