Default Batery Light on, Car dies(Not the alternator)

Car is a 1989 CRX DX. Bone stock.
My battery light came on a few weeks ago,
and the car ran fine. One day, I go to start her up,
and nuthin. I went to Kragen to check the alternator and they said
it's fine. Battery is a few months old. When I jump the car, she starts up,
but if I shut her down and try to start her again, the battery is dead.
If the alternator is good, what else could the problem be? I checked the ecu,
and it blinks 14 times in a row. Short blinks. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I have searched and no one had come up an with answer other than the alternator.

Your battery is dead. Its not holding a charge. Either that or its not grounded and is constantly leaking power to something. Change out the battery and see if that helps, and if it doesnt, check to make sure everythings off, or you havent added anything that constantly needs power, and to make sure everythings grounded properly.

I will check the grounds and battery in the morning.
Thanks for the sugestions.
Like I said before, the car is bone stock. The only
thing aftermarket in or on the car is the radio deck.

man I have the same problem with my 91 rex HF. Someone posted in my thread that even though the alternator may be fine through test it still may be bad. So I have decided to replace mine and will definately let you know.

Make sure that one of the wires on your deck isnt shorting out on some metal or something, that could be slowly sucking power from your battery.

Basically it sounds like either the battery isnt getting a charge, or its not holding a charge. But when you get a jump, it runs right? So it means your battery is getting a charge when youre running, just not holding it when the cars off.

If the alternator was fucked up the car would probably run until you undid the jumper cables and then die a few minutes later. Plus youd probably notice weird stuff with the electrical (lights dimming or going brighter, radio cutting out, etc) if it was over charging, atleast i did the last time mine died on me.

Replace the battery, the charging system works cycle like if the battery has a dead cell it will not complete the circuit and will make it throw the light.

I have had many parts “tested” be autoparts stores, had them tell me it’s fine and find out the it’s not fine. If it looks like a duck, it’s probably a duck. Lets face it most of the people working at these places don’t know the first thing about cars, let alone how to use test equipment. Just my 2c.
