Power steering pump grinds
Hey guys- well I put my power steering back in today, but had to put in a new pump since my old one is broken. So I got one at the local used honda parts place, but when i put it in and put fluid in it, it started grinding and a little smoke came from under the engine(presumably from the power steering rack). So I'm thinking it's a bad pump, but is there a possibility that I was supposed to prime the pump beforehand or anything?

Could be debrise in your fluid system. How long did you drive without a pump ? and Did you cap all hoses for PS ? You might have to flush and refill to see if symptoms persist.

hmm I drove without a pump for probably 2 months, and no I didn't cap the lines (that was pretty stupid of me, in retrospect; but i had planned on taking everything out entirely)
