I like it alot! Just like mine...Now you have to work on the stealth approach to your victims. No spooling, no or low blow-off, then, BAM!! you have just been beat by VTC_Civic!!
It looks good......but personally I would never paint any type of heat exchanger with regular paint. I wouldn't want to compromise the cooling efficency of the core. If I was into air-air intercoolers, I'd probably send it out for a black heat dissapating coating (ie. Swain coatings)
**Eventhough it is said below that painting an intercooler with regular black paint does not affect the efficency of a heat exchanger, I still am not buying that. I'd have to see some proof under controlled conditions (not a backyard garage test). Yes, I'm difficult like that....**
It does look good though.

That was one of the first things I did to my 88 HF sleeper beast. flat blacked the FMIC and placed some grill guard in front of that........evil.
Pics on the site, to bad it's geo-****-ies or i'd share.
On a side note i'm a big fan of putting grillguard in front of the FMIC. It's stopped many a rock and one time a bird(ha ha ha) from hitting the I/C.
just FYI

Man i feel the same way. Im looking at the fins on my IC and i dont want to bend a single one, looks so nice new.
btw will paiting your IC really cause effeciency to drop?

i prefer makin my competitors jock the bling bling intercooler and suddenly become scared... than to make them think they have a chance and end up being surprised they got spanked.
looks clean though... have fun sleepin all those suckas out there. lol

Dave LOVES being w/out a bumper. You guys just don't understand how many times I saw him at the races w/ no bumper on. Its incredible. Dave, you can still see it w/out the bumper, put the thing back on man.
I too like showing intimidation. Its an automatic "uh-oh" when people see my intercooler. I like that.

nice man...i was thinking of doing the same thing to my hatch...it would be great to see the faces on unsuspecting supra owners at 17 psi with an h22...hehehe...
u know, i really don't see the whole concept of painting an intercooler black to go "stealth" when everyone knows what a turbo sounds like...unless ur racing someone coming from the other direction and ur setup is as quiet as stock (which isn't gonna happen) i just don't see the ramifications of painting it black, other than to lose some of the heat exhange efficency of the intercooler...
Yeah stealthy is cool, but I just love how my Drag FMIC looks.
So intimidating.......
So intimidating.......
Spearco has done testing on painting intercoolers. It has no affect on cooling. All an intercooler is; is a big heat sink. Paint on it will not hurt........Mike
