Appearance related question concerning racing bucket seats...
How do you prevent the inevitable wear and tear that occurs on the left portion/side bolster?
My DD is also my track car, so some sacrifices have to be made. But the Sparco Evo that has been in my car for about 1 year has significant fabric wear (all the way through to the fiberglass in one spot).... this occurs from me climbing in and out, my belt rubbing on the seat, etc.
Any ways around this? I purchased a set of the Bride pads that go on the sides in hopes that it will solve this on the next seat I purchase?

Thoughts/Ideas?

since the car is ur DD...maybe only put the seat in when u go to a track event? and store it in the garage when not? just a thought since seats are usually real quick to take in and out

i ride with my Spoon seat daily for 2 years now. Just go straight down when getting in and dont rub the sides. if your a little hefty then your just scarred.

That is exactly how I treat my Mugen S1. No sliding into it.
A little prevention goes along way.

Thanks for the replies guys. Taking the seat in and out just for track days is a plausible idea... but I love DD w/ a race bucket. So much support!
Im looking to spend about $800-1000 on a new seat to replace my Evo, so Id like to keep it in good condition. Im glad to hear of success stories and that people can DD w/ race buckets w/o tearing them up.
Im not hefty at all, but I am 6'3". So it is a bit of a stretch for me to get in and out of the car. I have to push off my passenger seat or pull on the steering wheel a bit to get out if the car is on any sort on incline.
I guess my choice is simply to be more careful getting in and out. Do yall think those Bride pads will be helpful in preventing side bolster wear?

Excellent idea... perhaps a combination of both could keep the seat looking like new for quite a while. I have a renewed interest in replacing my Sparco now. It's gonna be eating me up inside

Bride you can have extra padding for those "my seat is too harsh" guys. And you can choose if you want them wide or slender. i have felt both and to me i like the Mugen one but my nuts dont.

I am a slender fellow and Im certainly not one to complain about a noisy, stiff, and otherwise uncomfortable daily driver
