Vinyl door panels
hey, i'm going to try to wrap my door panels in vinyl on my 92 dx, and was wondering if anyone has ever done it themself, or has any advice.
What glue did u use?
How did u mold the vinyl around the curves and bumps?
How much time did u spend doing it?
thanks

I did it on my 99 HX. The idea is the same. Once I took off the door panel I used a dremel tool to drill out the plastic rivit things. I got some small bolts from Home Depot and used them to screw the arm rest part back in. I used 3M spray glue to hold the vinyl on. It held well. Here are some pics:
Hope that helps.

how is that 3m glue holding up? i'm just worried of using a glue that will somehwat melt when it gets hot and lose hold of the vinly, but it looks great, do you have any advice on doing them? tricks or tips?

3M spray glue is fine. Basically the glue is there to hold it on while you tighten it down with the screws from the back. It also helps to keep the contour. I never had any problems with it all last summer. It's easies to put on when the vinyl is palpable - use a hair dryer to get it nice and mouldable. Then it will go over any bends and curves that you have. Don't get it too hot tho, or when you pull it tight it will strech too thin.

i wrapped the tops of my doors and the armrests in vinyl as well....came out alright, used too thin of a vinyl but it will suffice for now until i have the time to redo it again.

I left the fabric on. I don't know about it sticking better, but having it there makes it softer to put your arm on. Use 1/4" x 3/8" machine screw phillips ($0.20 for 2 @ home depot). Do use washers. You can use more than one to avoid screwing through the back end. I went through once also. Luckily it was under the arm rest so it didn't show up that much. Be carefull when you put the screws in though - as you get deeper slow down and be carefull.
