Default V Band Flange material for a Turbine Housing

I was wondering if it is permissible to use a stainless steel flange on the turbine housing. I know that there expansion rates between mild and cast are more similar than stainless and cast but was wondering if there had been any success using a stainless flange.

Thanks for any input!

I realise i also posted this in Forced Induction. I originally wanted it in this forum but made a mistake.

the to4z i got from ATP TURBO came with a steel v-band welded to the exhaust housing, shouldn't be a problem.

ATP sells v-vand adapters for a few different housing outlets if you want to go that route.

I'v tig welded many stainless and steel flanges directly onto the housings and have yet to have one return for anything (ie, cracking, breaking, etc.) Make sure to run alot of heat through the casting though.

The housing will be preheated before being tig welded. What filler rod would you suggest with a stainless flange?

Thanks!

Most turbine housings are cast steel not cast iron, so welding it can be done with ER70S-2 if you're going to TIG it.
