Default 2001 Civic tranny question...

Hello,

I just purchased a 2001 Honda Civic with a slipping tranny. A quick google search shows it's pretty common. I've read that it could be the torque converter breaking apart and clogging the filter.

Any idea what year auto trannies will fit the 2001 civic? Also, is there anything common it could be, like a bad solenoid etc?

Thanks

Anthony

As far as I know, '01-'03 are totally compatible and there might be a chance of the '04-'05 working as well, but I dont know 100% on that.

01-05 are compatible.

7thgen civics auto trannies are known to be bad. have you tried changing your tranny fluid yet?

ive had my ex with an auto trans for a couple of months and i notice it slipping also. it knocks some times from a dead stop. ive heard like the person above who said it too, that civics tend to have trannys that are prone to that sort of crap

sadly, its probably your tranny.

As stated before, Civic Auto tranny's are notorious for breaking prematurely. I would advise swapping to a standard, but if for some reason that isnt in the cards, looks like u will need a new tranny.

swapping it to a manual would cost way more than just getting it replaced or rebuilt by another auto

Thank you for the replies, will the 04-05 fit properly or anything special that needs to be done?

Thanks,

Anthony
