ok i just changed my head gasket on my jdm h22 cuz my car was over heating and when i was putting the cam gears
back on the cam shafts i noticed that it looked like a pin was missing where the gear hooks on the cam shaft I dont remember if it had one or not when my friend took it apart but it looks like something is missing or does the gear just bolt to the shaft it line up with the arrow pointing up but it makes a square hole on the shaft and gear like a tooth is missing?

 

your missing the key that goes there. don't put it together without it. its number 37

 

What he said The key is the only thing keeping the gear from spinning free on the cam shaft, which would not be good. Don't put it back together until you have the key.
