someone help me..tell me what i need to setup a turbo..what parts, what kind of parts not to buy, what i need ecu blah blah blah, any super cool turbo people out there?

id def use the search button, your gonna get owned by all the guys on here who hate these types of questions


plus if you need that much help, we need a VERY detailed description of what you are trying to boost, motor, whats done, what car, etc.

give us your power goal, budget, and engine type.....we can help you out, but SEARCH is your best bet....also the FI FAQ is a great resource

i tried the search and im still kinda eh on it. but i what i have so far is

im rolling in a 99 ej8 coupe . with original motor tranny everything
d16y8 - stock motor, nothing on it. (160k)
ex tranny - 160k on it also

budget wise. on parts only i wanna keep it under 1000
for tuning im not sure how much. but i know someone who can chip my stock ecu for 70 bucks.

my goal? puahkakaka..low high 13's. i just wanna see the 13 on a 1/4 time. is it possible tho? hRM....i also wanna smash on evos and **** on the freeway.

so far i have these parts. should i sell and get new ones or is it okay?

since you're trying to boost your car for a few hundred dollars...just go grab a turbo out of a junkyard saab...add it to the rest of your pile of ****.

sell the manifold...pick up a drag gen 3 mani for cheap used...keep everything else...

find a decent used turbo in the FI classifieds....get some injectors 550cc's, fuel pump walbro hp255...have a dp & dumptube fab;d by a local and call it a day...

you should look around more before you buy, i piked up the Greddy turo, downpipe, and manifold for 570 from the 18g kit, a good rule of thumb, dont buy ebay stuff

2. Search SSAC, Ebay turbo, etc...you'll see.......

buy a used greddy kit since you do not have the turbo background to do a custom kit.

Just buy a kit id have to assume since you failed to red the BIG *** FAQ at the top I doubt you know what the hell your doing..

too bad you cant chip OBD II ecu's so no. you cant chip your ecu for 70 bucks

and if he was .. good luck chipping and OBD II ecu with all the *cough* OBD I rom editors and non existent OBD II rom tuning programs out there.

Like I stated above, don't worry about peicing together your own turbo setup, it takes a bit of knowledge to get it done right and to know which companies to stay away from. If you want PM me, I can talk to you and figure out your price range and the numbers you are looking for and would be glad to point you in the right direction.
