if u want an affordable motor that will still get up and go then b18c
if u want a pricey motor that will get up and go a lot more then k20
if u can't really afford either then b18b
look around the web a lil, but i like hmotorsonline.com

You either need a lot $$, or connections and $$ to get a k20 swap for a good price and installed. Or opt for any vtec b-series and with supporting mods to vtec b-series motor, you may outperform the K20, unless its built n/a with high cr, or go boosted.

Lets start of with holding off on saying B18. There is a LS engine, a GSR engine and a Type R engine. All are B18s, however they are much much different from one another. I would recommend a GSR swap, its reliable, has good upgrade potential and makes "decent" power from the factory. LS/vtecs are work and clearly not the route you need to go (trust me....just off your first 3 post, I can tell you arent ready to build your own ls/vtec). Thus, I recommend a GSR swap and rock it out. Then do some minor performance mods and rebuild once you've been around for awhile.

or u can go a cooler and possibly cheaper route, get a gsr block shave the crank to knife edge, put some b16 pistons in, slap a b16 head on with cams, springs and retainers, cam gears and lightened pulley, port ur intake manifold to 70 mm on both ends and get a 70 mm throttle body, gsr injectors and fuel pump.great all motor fun and get the ecu chipped obviously.

Well poor-mans type-r, the OP would benefit more with that setup along with higher cr pistons and a PnP head if the OP went that route. A poorman-type-r ain't **** w/o higher cr.

In my opinion if you have the 10grand to spend on a k20 swap.... dont waste it on a k20 there isnt enough support out there for it yet in my opinion... get a gsr swap or a b20 vtec and build the **** out of it ... B series are the way to go ... yeah if you put 6grand - 8grand in to a k20 it will be mean as hell ... but then you have $16000-$18000 in a motor... you can take that and build a insaine b series allmotor or boosted...

k20 is a better motor but like tha guy said above me, unless you have tha change to do a pretty extensive build after you spend tha money on just tha k series swap, just build a badass b series setup with tha money ud pay for tha k series swap

b18a is just a da ls engine, Im pretty sure.

It has the same specs as a b18b, just a few years older.

If I am incorrect, someone please correct me.

Depending on what kind of power you want to make, everything changes. If you just want a peppy reliable daily driver, a b18c1(gsr motor) or b18c5(type r) motor will do.

If you want something to modify, an ls engine would suit your needs as the cheapest route.
You can build, and turbo it for cheaper than any of the other choices.

Let us know exactly what kind of power you want, naturally aspired, or forced induction and we would be able to help you better.

my b18-a is in a RS not LS so does that mean the previous owner did a engine swap? what are the specs of a b18a?

B18A has ~10hp less than the B18B. Pretty much any B18 that isnt a GSR or ITR is going to be a B18B these days. The B18As are also non-OBD.

It seems like you have very little experience with cars in general, so I'd stay away from swaps all together and just keep your car stock until you read up. Just do some minor things for the mean time. Change some fluids, brakes, clean it up.

For price, reliability, and power you can't beat a GSR. Right now I'm debating between a K20A2 swap into my DA, or a GSR with an ITR transmission. One will be cheaper than the other, but one will be a lot more fulfilling. Sigh

RS is just a trim model, people just call the B18 the LS motor because it's in all the 1994+ DC "LS" Integras. I think they stopped producing the RS trim after the DA's but I'm not sure, I stay away from DCs.

All RS, LS, and GS trim have a B18B in them (aside from 1990-91 DA Integras).

not all b18a have 10hp less than the b18b .. thats true for obd0 b18a ( 90-91 ) and the b18a from 92-93 obd1 is rated at 140 compared to the b18b 142 .

since it seems like you're jus starting to learn about hondas , maybe a b18b is the right choice for you . It is under a grand to get the motor , tranny , ecu ( if you find a good deal , maybe the mounts , axles , shift linkage would be included ) . It is actually very fun to daily drive on , jus lacks the power 6k rpm + to do any serious racing.

Uhmm, I'm definately missing something. Were you just asking which motor was better, comparing the K20a and the B18a?
