Default need some advice from fellow gsr owners

I know this topic has been brought up many times and I've read all of the archived and recent topics on launching. But I want some advice from people who own gsr's.

I was messing around with my friend this weekend in a parking lot. He drives a mid 90's 240sx and we ran a few times and it seems that I would always bog a bit on my launches ( I launched at 3k and feathered the clutch) . He would get the jump on me but I would always reel him in in second gear. I also think I have a LS tranny cuz the previous owner fucked the original one and got a new tranny. Since the gears are longer, would it be a good idea to launch higher liek 5-6k? I've never really tried it ..

I am on street tires (potenza re730's) with i/h/e everything else stock.

Get some Falkens and you will have better launches! Also get some motor mounts.

just play with it. There are a lot of deciding factors...what kind of street your on how hot your tires are. you usually want to launch at high enough rpm (around 5300-6000 for me) so when you do grab you are in your vtec range. just play around till you find whatever feels best

This has always been something I'm not clear about since I did my swap. Before with my SOHC I could launch at 3K and rev very quickly up and spin the tires. Now with my GSR, I have to lauch at at least 6K or else it'll bog down to 4K, drop out of VTEC, and I'll run 15s. After doing this a number of times, I broke the differential in my transmission. Trying to find out if this **** is normal or not.
