autozone axles.. (better than napa?)
are they really bad? free lifetime warranty/replacements are pretty cool.. but will they last at all? any experiences would be helpful. im weighting napa vs autozone... napa supposedly sells higher quality...
I have a set on my Prelude and the Civic. Never had to take em back in yet, so they're holding up okay. It's just nice to know that if anything does go wrong, I can get a new set for free. I don't really drag race that often, just a few weekends out of the year, and the occasional light to light sprints.
What kind of racing do you plan on doing? Or is this just for a daily beater?

most ppl tell me those cheap parts are below OEM standards although they say they are OEM spec. but if it just for you daily driver, i dont see any cons since u wont be needing that high end performance. now on the otherhand if u do plan on vtec-ing alot, compression braking, anything that would put alot of stress on your axles... maybe you might wanna go with OEM. but again...
life time warrenty is hard to argue with if your just gunna take it easy

As a Napa employee, I can say that most auto parts stores have CV shafts that are remand by the same company, which is A1 Cardone. From what I see coming back to the store, they seem to be good quality, we get very few of them back defective. Cant speak from experience though, because I got brand new shafts.
My friend got "lifetime" axles for his Civic, and broke one a week later. He brought it in and they said he had abused it and they wouldn't exchange it for free. What sucks was all he had done was taken it on a round state trip

I just heard about this company Raxles.. ever heard of them? They have high quality stuff.. im thinking about returning them before I even take them out of the store and ordering these instead.

I work at autozone. The napa guy is right. Cardone does the majority of our reman. work. I'm not sure about the axles though. The only bit of advice i can offer is something i discovered when i replaced the pass. axle on my 97 prelude. The autozone axle was about 1 inch too short. Be sure to compare yours to the new one. If your car is stock ride height it shouldn't be a problem. My axles are longer than stock and i didn't know it. I took my axle to a rack and pinion shop and let them rebuild it. It cost $55 bucks. Good as new, but no warrenty. OEM axles are stronger than aftermarket. The guy at the shop explaned all the differences to me. There is a difference between OEM and aftermarket. If all you are doing is a daily driver aftermarket is fine. Since you are autocrosing i would get mine rebuilt or go find a good OEM one. But you do have a lifetime warrenty. As long as your not breaking one every 6 months are something it shouldn't be a problem.
