are the new si axels really weak? i was showing my friends my car and shifting into second around 6500 and i heard a real loud snapping noise. any opinions on my dilemma?

 

I heard it 1 time before but never again.

 

maybe you heard your transmission ?

 

ummm... I think if you're axle cracked, you'd have a lot bigger problems than just hearing a noise

 

It's your dog bone. Ingalls is coming out with a torque dampener soon to prevent that.

 

thanks for the info. i just got back from honda and they said it was just the clutch when i was shifting. no problems, still a little shimmy.

 

i heard it twice before kinda loud hu? they both happen when i shifted to second too but i havent heard it again dont think its anything bad car feels fine first time happen out of nowhere second time my car kinda went over a curve =/ didnt do any body damage but i check to see if anything was broken didnt see anything and then i floored it make sure it felt fine and thats when that noise happened again so i tryed it again and it hasnt done it since

 

Wow, I thought I was the only one...
My second time ever gettin on it since we bought it 2 weeks ago, and this was in the rain mind you, I shifted at 6800 as it was spinning on the wet road into 2nd and I hear a really load snap/crack/pop whatever you wanna call it...! It didn't sound good. Any ideas as what it might be?! I thought it might've been the LSD, who knows..

Now once pulling out of the driveway and once turning around a corner going like 20mph 1st thing in the morning, I hear a similar sound but to a much lesser softer extent...

 

I thought I was the only one too, engine hitting the firewall like the V6 Accords?
