rear windows down = loud rumbling noise???
i just bought a 2007 civic 4door lx and when i'm going over 50mph and roll down the rear windows, there's a loud rumbling noise...so loud that my ears hurts. it sounds like the wind that's coming in is causing this turbulence. does your do the same or is it just mine? and is this normal?
Its common with most sedans. Happened on my TSX, air has nowhere to go
and if i'm not mistaken (haven't had my coffee yet)
I recall reading something that if you do that often you'll actually get WORSE MPG, due to the rear acting as a windsock (since most cars nowadays rear windows only go half down)
It's been a while since that post/article , from when i had my tsx and looked it up.

most small suv's do that also...
my parents had a toyota highlander, before their sequoia....and if you put the rear windows down it did the same thing... extreemly loud pressure sound.. i thought my ears were gonna explode. my parents took it back to the dealership to find out if there was something wrong, and the dealership told them its common for new suv's. just the way the air flows around the vehicle and in the compartment... and can be relieved by unrolling the front window..
i honestly thought their toyota was gonna explode!!

check the rubber on the track.
mine bent downwards, causeing the window to go up and down slow, starting to leave a mark on the wondow 2. happened in my 02 civic aswell. gotta take it to the dealer.......
or it could just be wind.
