Hondamonster's Rex build.
Ok, so it seems like everybody is doing a build thread, and i want in
i picked up my 88 crx hf 'shell' as kind of a rescue mission. the guy wanted 400 and i turned him down... until a few weeks later when he called and said "250 if you get it out of my driveway by the end of the week. if not, it gets crushed."
and thats how you sell me a honda. i trailered it home and started de-construction.

it had a crappy bright yellow paint job and didnt run. he said it was a distributor issue and had left said dizzy in a bag in the pass seat. i bolted it in and played with the wiring for about an hour and it ran... but only on two cylinders.

maybe bad compression? lol
the block had been swapped for a d15b7 for some reason, but its in good shape, so im going to use it for a mini-me since i already have most of the parts
So my work has begun!

heres my block. you can still see cross-hatching in person. no damage either

RICE!!!

The interior was NASTY. ripped it all out. (you can see the dizzy on the floorboard lol)

the front end didnt quite line up... it has been lightly wrecked

heres the engine bay. could use improvements...

heres some stripping to get to the frame. after 3 hours, 2 crow bars, a scissor jack, sledge hammer and a yard stick and a carpenters square, i got the frame straight.
I have a ton of work yet, but i also have a vision for this car! cant wait to see how it turns out

looks like that was a whole d15b7 becuase the hf only had 8 valves, just throwing that out there, nice project though check out mine if you get a chance(link is in my sig.)

valvetrain and cam cleaned up

i did a mild port polish with a dremel... turned out pretty nice, i think

head after a nice cleanup
exhaust valves back in...

then the intake valves...

followed by cam and valvetrain. im using all new gaskets and seals, so the cam seal was replaced (cam gears are hard to get off!) everything got a coat of clean oil before being put back together... now i need a torq wrench to put everything in spec torq... ill get more done tomorrow
