Default b20 into CRX Tranny question???

i will be using s1 or y1 (both cable tranny). Now my question is will the cable transmission bolt right up to the b20. Since the motor is a 97+ it had a hydro transmission. Do i need to convert anything to make the cable transmission work w the motor???? thnks

..nope, it'll bolt right up since its a b series to a b series... cable/hydro has nothing to do w/ it as far as the engine is concerned..

We did the same combo, a B20 with a y1 tranny and it bolted right up with no problems.

What ECU are you running? If you use a cable B-series tranny with an OBD2 harness you are into a problem. OBD2 ECU needs to be fed with speed sensor of hydro tranny. Speed electrical impulses go to the ECU and the ECU feeds a dashboard. This means you cannot use mechanical speedo.

Solve this problem by buying Civic 96-00 speedo at junkyard. It has electrical system and works fine. The only problem is you get about 10-15km/h speedo reading errors above 110km/h

Cable tranny + OBD1 is the way to go..

The head is getting back this week from getting port work, the bottom end is being built right now.
Holley 70mm tb
Skunk2 IM, stage 2 cams, valve springs, retainers, valves, cam gears
RC 440cc injectors with stock PR3 ecu
Eagle rods and Endyne/Wiseco pistons ~12.5:1 84.5mm
JG Edelbrock header with race B pipe
Tanabe Racing Medallion exhaust with straight piped cat
Tokico Illumina 5-ways all around
Skunk2 coils with optional drag springs for rear
Z10 traction system
Kosei K1's 15"x7"

It should all be back this week and be put in this weekend if I have enough time. I'll put some miles on her and then run her on street tires which I expect to be high 12's after seeing HXman's mild setup and knowing how light my car is in comparison.

We'll all see soon.
