well heres my steps

1. Go for a drive any where, make sure engines hot
2. Pop your hood clean any visible dirt/ grime with a towel before beginning
3. Buy a spray can of gunk engine cleaner.
4. Cover most of the electronic components, battery, dizzy , fuse , alternator with bags so you dont damage it
5. Spray gunk all over your bay and let the cleaner set for 10 min
6. Hose off
7. Dry any left over water with a towel
8. Enjoy you hard work

Extra step... Use a wirebrush to clean your tranny and other crap

Thanks for the write up, I've been meaning to do this lately.

I'd probably change the description of Step 4 though... I could really picture someone reading that, and thinking it means to cover those components in the cleaner, not to protect them from it, haha.

This is how all my cars engine bays look. If I had a dollar for every can of Gunk I've sued since I was about 14, I'd be rich!
I've gotten best results with a pressure washer & never really had to cover anything under the hood.
Great job on a squeaky clean motor! BLING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do not use the gunk gel. Its a pain to get off and if you don't it will leave a nice white residue. So make sure to use the foamy gunk.

If you saved every dollar that you spent on a can of Gunk since you were 14 youd be rich. Hahahahaa. To the OP thats a clean bay. Too bad you didnt make it to the Bay Area meet. Maybe well catch you next time.

Just wrap plastic around what you want covered. How is a towel going to stop anything from getting wet? You kidding me?

Use tissue instead of plastic, plastic gets wet. As we all know, tissues do not get wet.

Joking, please don't take that serious guys, haha.

I've never once, ever, heard of washing the engine while its hot. You risk cracking the block or any other peice that is at temperature and then rapidly cooled.
