Default popped up hood question

I've seen a lot of pictures lately of cars with the hoods popped up about 1/2" at the windshield, it looks like people do it on purpose, hows it done and are there any benefits behind it? Thanks

I just spaced it up with a couple washers. I like to think that it helps move heat out of the engine bay, but I couldnt tell you for sure.

it was started by drift guys to vent hot air out of the engine bay. and yeah, just a couple of washers will do it.

they do it because they have too, due to the engine used (h22 etc) or the engine or configuration thereof (a crazy deck height on a B20/Vtec)

it looks awful.

trim your hood from the inside to clear the engine. also you can use an SiR style ef8/ef9 hood to clear it.

again, don't just prop the hood like that for no reason, it looks awful but guys do it because there is not other way to run a hood at times.

there are millions of other ways to get fresh air into your engine bay if heat is really THAT much of concern.....

a great example of something inexpensive to do like that is to go to home depot and get inexpensive duct work, and make ducts from your fog light holes, up to the engine. you can route the air to wherever you want.

total cost of the project, maybe 20-30 bucks.
