215/45/16 good tire to tuck???

205/40-16 is the wrong size for an Integra. 205/45-16 or 215/45-16 are the correct sizes for a 16" wheel. Besides, 205/40-16 looks ridiculous (trust me, I have a set for autocross for my DC2).
And as long as you have high enough spring rates and the correct offset on your wheels, you can tuck tire with a 215/45-16 without rubbing. I used to run that low, before I realized it was the absurdly low ride height that was keeping the car from cornering correctly.

Yes, for the Civics. The OP was asking for a DC (Integra), though his name would suggest an EK (Civic).

I haven't seen a ride height mentioned in the thread. I understand how modifying ones suspension to achieve different ride heights can adversely affect the handling. How does excessively small tire/wheel diameter hurt your cornering. It seems like lower center of gravity (if it doesn't mess with the suspension) would be a completely good thing.

error..... 205/40-16 are PERFECT if you want to tuck without rubbing and they look very nice as well.. I say this because I have them on my car and my car looks clean.
Please do not give misleading information.
205/45-16 are the correct size for 16" wheels and are good if you are planning to auto cross and ride on stock height or a minimal drop then Yes
but 205/40-16 is not WRONG as in something will go wrong.. it really means they are not the Original size that suppose to be on that (stock) car, but NOTHING is wrong with 205/40-16 they are perfectly fine for dropped cars and are very good for tucking without worrying about rubbing.
So if you are planning to tuck and go with his suggestion, you will definitely RUB... and will also look higher off the ground making your car seem higher.
My suggestion base on pass experience, because I used all of those sizes
205/45-16,215/45-16 and 205/40-16 go with the 205/40-16 if you are planning to dump your car.

WRONG. Just because you think your tires look nice doesn't mean that they are the best size. 205/40-16 is TOO SMALL for an Integra (3.3 percent smaller diameter than stock), but it's the best 16" size for a pre-'96 Civic. On an Integra, they will throw off the accuracy of the speedometer and odometer. As for looks, a lot of people think they look just plain silly.

As noted in the stickied FAQ topic, 205/45-16 (and 215/45-16) are best for an Integra, and 205/40-16 is best for a pre-'96 Civic.

Yes it will throw off the accuracy of the speedometer by a bit but not much because I am using it and it is perfectly fine.
A lot of people think they look plain silly? I think the cleanest cars uses smaller tire size then there "" correct '' tire size.
Go to the slammed thread and the eibach thread please .. guess what tire size those guys uses? Apparently they aren't listening to you, go tell them their car looks silly ... and they are cleannn and tuck as well..

if the only goal is to have zero gap between the wheel arch and the top of the tire then it seems a taller diameter tire would be easier since you have to lower the car less in order to close that gap... smaller diameter tires would increase wheel gap at stock height, so in order to tuck you would have to lower even more than with a larger tire...
small tires for tucking seems counterintuitive to me, especially since were talking 205/40 vs 205/45, which in most tire lines have nearly identical tread widths and in many cases the 205/40 has a wider section width increasing the chance of rubbing.
but its your car, do as you will

By that logic, you could be using a 175/45-16 tire and you would still be saying "it is perfectly fine".

Again, same thing - you'd love those 175/45-16 tires. Heck, maybe you like the "low rider" look on your car. That's your opinion and you are welcome to it. Lots of people will still think it looks silly.

So there are a few other people who like things that look silly. What a surprise.
