Default Whale ***** Intake

ok so what exactly is the significance of the design of the "whale ***** intake" vs lets say a AEM CAI (my other choice) i know the whale ***** is a short ram, but i've read that short rams offer more low end power while the CAI offers more topend, i was just wondering which one offers more power and bang for buck

sorry im a n00b
and i have a 96 civic ex

You seriously don't make any (if any...then very little...1-3hp max) extra power off a short ram or cold air intake. Basically it just makes your engine a little louder.

I would choose the SRI over the CAI...the idea of sucking up water through the CAI makes me very "iffy" about them

I'd probably go with the Whale ***** one...looks better and you don't have to worry about sucking up water (unless you run your car through a lake or pond or something)

I have a CAI (K&N) and have driven through small/medium puddles, on the freeway in drenching rain, and no hydrolock, the intake tube didn't even get wet.. I've got this cool little slip-over cover that's water-resistant that does a good job of protecting me since I don't have a bypass valve..

Regardless, I'd want a whale ***** because they look so much cooler, you don't have to worry about driving thru large puddles and effing up your motor, and they make around the same whp as any CAI

Short Ram ftw

it looks like a whale *****... i think they look like ****. if you wanted the lenght on your intake then why not just use a stock box without a bottom. here in cali im using a GSR intake box with the bottom of the box cut out much bigger. love it.
waiting till i can get the preludes tube for the gsr box, then it will be perfect.
