Oil plug fell out of my 93 Integra
93 Acura Integra with 136K Mi. I had my oil changed at a Valvoline quicklube and about 400 miles later my oil plug fell out while I was on highway doing 70MPH. I saw oil pressure drop quickly, oil light came on, then in a few seconds the engine stopped working. I shifted to idle and manually coasted to a stop.
Car was towed to a garage where they replaced the plug and added oil again. Engine started up fine. But, it does not run the same.
My question is: Will a 93 Integra automatically shut off if the pressure drops below a setpoint to prevent engine damage, like some newer vehicles? I need to know this before I go after the quicklube to pay for damages. I did a compression check - one cylinder is 30/100. Two are holding 125 and the 4th is 165. Power and acceleration are noticeably different. I know this quicklube did not replace the plug properly, and my engine is screwed, but I am fighting to prove it to them. They claim since the engine had 136K it was probably already losing compression. However, I have a compression check from 2 yrs prior (110K) when I bough the car and it is up to spec on all 4 cylinders.
Is there a test to show damage as a result of the oil loss without tearing the engine down? My mechanic suggested a "leak" test and oil pressure check at idel and 3K RPM. Any other suggestions? Is it even worth replacing the engine? (I LOVE my Integra!).
Thanks, everyone, for any help.

That is unfortunate. This is one reason why I work on my own car.
You would have to tear the engine down to examine the cylinder walls and bearings. Regardless, how would you prove that damage was not preexisting? Does the car now have any rod knock or extra noises?

hell yes its worth replacing the engine, if not give it to m i could use another DA lol. threaten the mechanics with a lawyer, you would difinetly have to tear it apart to see the damages,
