Motor Clean Up Product
What are some good cleaning products to use for cleaning a B18 Motor and trans. Before i swap it in I would like to clean it to look almost new. Some of my friends tell me to use Simple Green, what do you guys think?
Thanks
Thanks
purple power FTW!!!!
it works great but alota times its not the cleaner that wont work its just that the metal is pitted and hard to get the dirt and color out of .... my buddy used purple power and a wire brush and it kinda worked but it was a really nasty motor too so i dunno
either way deff recomend the purple power

Thanks a lot guys!</TD></TR></TABLE>
Drop your motor and clean it out of the car. You can get every nook and cranny, and then you can paint it if you choose.

you do not want to paint the block, i guess if you do things the ghetto way.... if it doesnt look good to you just rub some steel wool over it and ta da.

a steam cleaner while the car remains running is very good

if you want to go crazy drop the motor and get some random honda bolts and thread them in cut the head off the bolt and maybe weld a little and grind it some then repiant you entire engine pay without the random holes and stuff also do a wire tuck

hot tank it if your building the motor anyway

He's not building ... he's just swapping in.
Hot tanking is for people that are replacing every seal and bearing so they have it all out anyhoo

You can, however, seal every nook and cranny and get the tranny and shortblock bead blasted

I tried simple green on a transmission yesterday, but it didn't clean it at all. I was actually surprised, I use simple green on suspensions parts and wheels all the time and the dirt and grim practically beads off. I'd go with Eran's advise: carb cleaner or something harsher if you can find it.
That transmission gunk is solid!

I'd prefer hi-temp primer.
