Default Good purchase or not? '92 Civic rolling shell with 3 LS heads/2 LS blocks for $1500.

Hi, guys. I don't frequent the Civic subforum much. I am trying to decide if I should buy my neighbor's hatch.

He is selling it for $1500. It is primered, with no rust. No front seats. It has a fully built block, tapped for LS/vtec. The problem is: the pistons are messed up, due to detonation. The car is not running. The car is in pieces. All the stock LS internals are included (in a box in the car).

The car was turbocharged and made 400+whp, with fully built JG head and turbonectics turbo (that he is keeping). With the sale, he is only including the built block, a spare LS block, and 3 stock LS heads with manifolds, without the camshafts. But he is giving me some GS-R camshafts and adjustable cam gears (that I can sell). It has skunk2 suspension on it with LS wheels.

My goal is: to locate a vtec head, transmission and ECU and build a LS/vtec motor.

If you were in my shoes, would you buy it? Is it worth $1500? The shell is in fair condition, with no major dents or frame damage. It has a clean title.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like a decent deal for $1,500 provided you have more money to put into to fix it. I'd do it. Post some pics.

I don't know, $1500 for a rolling shell seems a little steep considering it needs paint and seats, not to mention it's a 92 and the kbb is pretty low.

You also said the body was in fair condition, sounds like it needs a lot of work inside and out...I'd much rather spend 2 grand on a stock 92 hatch and build it from there.

Thanks for the advice, man. You may be right. I will try to get pictures of it to see what you guys think. I have been out of the Honda scene for awhile, and I really don't know how much stuff costs nowadays. All I know is: everything in the aftermarket world is flooded and abundant.

I will take what you said into consideration.
