Default need help installing hawker odyssey battery bracket

i bought the battery and the pre-made fancy aluminum bracket. i want to install it right underneath were the stock location is. i cant figure out how to get a drill in there and if i did how would i put a nut on the back? i would have it welded in but i would rather not incase i would need to take the engine out, or even replace the battery since the bracket basically seals it in. basically im looking for a how to.
Thanks

There are a few bolt-holes down there already for the stock battery tray and for the stock ground wire. I just made my own bracket for my PC310 and attached it to them, no drilling.

drill holes and use a nutsert I would recommend buying the nutsert tool but its like $70 with the proper mandrel. You can just buy the nutserts which are cheap and use the method here. http://www.broncofix.com/Tech/nut/nut.htm

Use a 90 degree adapter for a drill motor to drill the holes required and then install nut-serts (as noted above)

coot_er;

I don't have a photo of a 90 degree adapter, but it's pretty much what it sounds like.

You "chuck" it into your drillmotor and there is a 90 degree gear unit within it for it's chuck that points off to the side.

They tend to flop around while drilling, so you have to drill slowly.

You can also buy drill bits that are shorter in length for really close areas.

Check out Harbor Freight to buy one (it's my guess that they have them). Unless you do a lot of fabricating, you will most likely only use it once or twice, and as such a cheap one will get you by. (I've used mine only once)

Another thought would be to just pop rivet the battery box to the frame rail.

Wouldn't a self-taping screw work fine?

That's what I plan to use on mine. A few of them, but i don't see why they wouldn't hold.

the self tapping screws have a drill point head. they drill the hole as they go in. I would rather use some large steel rivets than these though.
