Default d16 thermostat

according to my hayne's civic manual my thermostat housing is attached to the upper radiator hose, but when i took mine off and inspected i couldnt find it, and the picture was totally different. Does anyone know where this damn thing is?
Also if any of you guys wanna help me troubleshoot that would be cool. My car wont stop overheating and ive replaced almost everything. My upper hose is hot, lower is not hot, fans are working but my car is overheating. Also sometimes when i give my car gas it sounds and feels like I have a cylinder misfiring. Seperate issues? Help! haha.

The thermostat is located on the upper section of the LOWER rad hose. Remove the top part of the lower hose, then that housing contains the thermostat.

replace the thermostat, if only one hose is hot, then the thermostat is probably not opening.

you dont even need to remove the hoses. Follow your lower hose to the block, you'll have a ball looking aluminum pipe that goes into the hose from the block. There are 2-3 bolts (10mm) holding it on. Very simple.
