i got a brand new spoon header and downpipe. 4-2-1 design, but my friend had bought it when he had a 93 lude, but just a fully built h23, non vtec, and i got a 97 jdm h22a4 vtec, would the headers still work? they are brand new and i would like to use them. but i heard u cant use them if they werent for a vtec..

I don't think Spoon has ever made an H23 header, have they?

I too have never heard of a spoon prelude header. Probaly was a knock-off?

 

I thought Spoon only made the primaries (upper portion of the header) for Preludes. Maybe I am confusing it with another company.

 

yeah thats what i thought at first, but its stamped and all. spoon racing. dont look like a knockoff. idk... im just tryin to see if its matches up cause it looks like it will, looks exacly like my stock jdm header just polished.

Stamp doesn't necessarily mean it's real, although I'm not saying it isn't. I've never ever heard of spoon making a header for the lude.

I thought mugen was the one who only made the primaries?

Yup apparently your right Andy, spoon does make the primaries for the prelude. Never knew that.




OP, I hope yours is just the primaries. 650 just for the primaries though is rediculous.

Edit, also OP I don't think it will work. I'm fairly certain the manifold has a different bolt pattern from the H22. Also if it did fit I believe you would have to get it extended to fit a 5th gen.

 

true true. i mean it does look like it will bolt up , but well see. if not who cares, just figured id give it a shot.got it dirt cheap for brand new. thanks and all tho. preciate it.

 

hmm just to let u kno a true jdm prelude will say h22 not h22a1-4 i lernd from a true h22 motor lol and make sure u put on the gaskets and dont over tighten it or ud blow the gasket like i did on my headrs
