Default F22B vs. F20B

"VTec is the best way to go for more power." Is this neccessarily true? Here we have the VTec revving beast (F20B) and the non-VTec Honda motor (F22B). Due to some experimenting... After recent races, my Honda motor (F22B2) is aparently faster than a friend of mine; who has a VTec (F22B1). We have the same light modifcation setup, but my engine is a worst state than his. My car is also faster than a Honda Civic EX VTec, and he also has the same light modification setup. So now I think, "Is VTec really the best way to go?!".

Ok, now to the real questions. How far do I want to go? I want a lightly built all-built motor, turbo charged car. Apprently, it has to be turbocharged, because F series engine crave for it. But, aparrently, I have read that the F20B isn't that great for turbo somewhere. I have heard from my bro that, he saw a F22B 10 sec car at the tracks. But, I haven't heard much from a F20B engine, even from the forums. So any help would be appreciated, on deciding which engine best suites me. Thanks!

Default F22B vs. F20B (reikuma)

the Dohc F20B will rape both of yours cars the f22b1 is crap anyways its an econo vtec not performance like the F20b and as for the civic ..rofl its weak sauce its a little 1.5 or 1.6L which only puts out mid 90's hp to the crank for the 1.5 and aroudn 100 in the 1.6 but then again if its the dohc then its 160 which i doubt unless he swapped it in....ok enough blabbing from me

ok it all depends and what you wanna use it for parts are realy hard to find for the f20b ..well the rods are anyways and so are valves but you wont really need to change either since the bottom end can handle 9k revs if you really wanted to go turbo go with either the Dohc F22b/h23 which is non vtec or h22 but the H would eb more expensive to boost and your right the F20b isnt turbo friendly with its 11:1 CR but if you wanna go different get the F20B heres a couple vids of mine

its an 01 F20B SIR-T the only sad part is im running it with the F22A1 tranny boooooo but i whould be getting a T2T4 or T2W4 soon hehehe
