Default Sedan Rear Disc issue

Since this will proabably be my introductory flame... I bought a 89 Civic sedan to use as my daily driver. A was able to score a rear disc conversion pretty cheap from a 91 2-door integra. Maybe this is my own stupidity but everything worked out well except for the ebrake cables, its as if they are too long. Even though I had one hell of a time getting them in there, they seemed to be just right.

I was told by several people that this was a bolt on affair and everything should line up, but its as if the cables aren't even connected when I pull up on the handle. Would the cables from the drum setup work or is there another set of cables I'm supposed to use? Or does the problem lie somewhere else?

Thanks,

Chris

chris, to get the fitment/length right, i looped the cables around each other once before i sent them through the rubber grommets to the inside of the car.
in my sedan, that was how i got them to end up closest to the factory location.
it would make sense if they were a little long, that the ebrake would be ineffective. but before you go rerouting them, did you mess with the adjuster between the seats yet?

The adjuster is pretty maxed out. We just ran them in the stock locations, so you're saying to run them in a manner that they will take up more space thereby reducing the usable length of the cable?

I think we can try and make that work. You said you looped them around each other, i know this sounds simple but could you be a little more specific as to where and how you looped them. I'll get under there one day next week and check out an alternative mounting strategy.

Thanks guys,

Chris

i twisted them around each other (once, maybe twice) between the point where they bolt up near the gas tank, and where they enter the inside of the car. it's ghetto but effective.

looped = twisted like a licorice stick

just make sure that they won't kink

ive read that DA cables work fine for hatches. is it because its a sedan that the DA cables dont work so well for you guys?

also, have you guys considered using 1st gen integra cables?

I assume it has to do with the sedan, at least that the problem here. Thats really the reason I asked was to find out if I needed a different set of cables or if anyone had tried anything different. I guess I'll try to loop them around.

Thanks for the detail, I know it sounded simple but I just wanted to make sure I knew what you were doing.
