Default Running two clusters?

I have a 97 Civic LX Auto, I am about to order a 03 Civic LX auto cluster and rewire it to work. Problem is I want to keep this legal and without paying $250 for honda to reporogram the new digital cluster its not going to be. So how about I make a splitter for the wiring harness and hook them both up? They are just reading what the computer is sending right, they are not having to send anything back to the computer so this should work in theory? Thanks!

By legal, are you referring strictly to the odometer reading? If so, you can contact your local DMV to determine what paperwork is required to legally record the new cluster's mileage, and it shouldn't cost much (if anything).

Werd.

I've got one question, why are you wanting the 03 cluster? I've seen them, and I don't know how you'd get it to fit even closely in your bezel.

Uhh, I just wouldn't worry about it dude, if and when the car is sold record the mileage as "actual mileage unknown".

Sure you will, I don't really know the original mileage of my car, I estimate around 200,000 on the chassis. Just try to record it as best you can, and when its sold explain the situation to the buyer and be completely honest. I'm not familiar with the 03 clusters but I don't think it will fit in your bezel.

I've never heard of anyone putting the01-05 clusters in their cars.

It's kind of the red-headed stepchild of the hondas.

I don't know about you dude, but these two look nothing alike in my book

I understand that those are just the plastic surrounds, but how do you expect to fit the guts from one into the other. Square peg and round hole come to mind.

i find this whole idea pretty funny, but if you plan on keeping both, and you find a place to mount both, you could get some wire and splice it and rewire it all......it would be a major pain in the ***, and totally not worth it imo, but it is feasible i guess......

You are probably the closest person to answering my question, will two clusters run hooked up at the same time? All they do is read what is being put out by the computer right, they dont have to send anything back.
