Default Hesitation or Misfire?

At low throttle, when accelerating, and cruising with light throttle, I can feel the engine misfiring or hesitating. However, on 100% throttle it feels fine.

Of course, the one time I would like a CEL there isn't one. Changed the plugs and wires fine. Looked at the rotor and dizzy cap and all looked good, plenty of length on the rotor.

Read that it could be the signs of a fuel pump going bad, but wouldn't that be an on/off action?

Any ideas?

if this helps, it sounds like a flat four/boxer engine, ie WRX.

Also, it occurs under 3000RPM

Had a few beers tonight??

The plugs have been changed and wires, both Bosch, no difference. Old one's were NGK.

One thing, I always use Shell Vmax, but the last two tanks I haven't...

Anyone else?

If the fuel pump is bad, will it simply work or not work? or just slow down and eventually die?

Same thing started to happen to my car last week!
I been throwing the code 43.
I switched out the fuel filter, checked my plugs, wires, checked the pump.
I'm about to switch distributers with a friend that has an R to see if that may be the problem, before going out to buy a new one.
It's driving me nuts.
If you solve the problem be sure to post it.
I'll do the same when i get it fixed.

Well code 43 is for one of the o2 Sensors.

As far as my problem, switched out the dizzy today, no luck. Starting to lean towards a fuel issue.

Code 43 is a fuel supply or o2 sensor circuit malfunction.

In our case i'm thinking fuel rather then o2, but i'm not ruling it out yet.

Oh I see, I thought you were saying that you had the same problem as I, but throwing a code 43.

I am definetly starting to go with injectors (fuel) also. Just figuring out where to start!

i have a very slight hesitation as well only in low rpm and medium load (1500-2500 rpm accel. from a stop), which sucks because that is my primary driving situation around town

Have either of you changed out the injectors?

I took that off, but didn't know what to clean, all I saw was a nipple with a hole, and on the throttle body just a hole?

its just fucked, the hesitation goes away when i apply more throttle, its hesitates at low rpm while holding a steady throttle

Sounds like emissions or ignition. Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, etc (possibly an 02 sensor)

Cap, wires, plug and dizzy have all been changed. Rotor has plenty left on it.

02 Would throw a code, besides, replaced it with a Bosch about 2 years ago.

Would like to do injectors but at around 200

Well I left a message with one of the reputable shops in the area, LHT, to see if they can take alook at it, if not, then I don't know.

At the moment sounds like I have a flat four engine.

Well, after a drive, worked out that under 3000rpm it sputters around, but after that it feels great??

I wish a CEL would pop up!

Does this happen, do you feel the sputter in all gears, and even at WOT? Or is it just something you feel around 3000rpm just barely on the gas? I had a similar situation a long time ago, went away by itself I guess.

Yes, sputter in all gears.

If at WOT below 3000 yes, but above no.

Hope it goes away, its a nightmare to drive around.

My car has the same symptoms, but I'm throwing a 43.
I tried cleaning the MAP, but that didn't do anything.
I took it to 1 Honda/Acura shop in the area and they couldn't figure it out.
I'm going to try a few more on Tuesday

Called Honda, and basically as there is no code, they don't know how long it would take to diagnose, and its $80 an hour. In otherwords they didn't want to deal with it.

Well 43 is the 02 sensor, and the only problem I had with that was that it would run rich.

It does seem to be getting worse the more I drive it though.
