i just bought a clean *** DA 90 with a b16a and b16 trans
it has 17in wheels and it's pretty quik but i would thinkk the stock b18a1 would be fast i don't know the motor still needs to get tuned up

The DA came with a B18A only in the US. The B18B was on the DC.

You are wrong. No DA in the US had a B16 although the DB2 came with a B17a1.

hold up everyone. info is flying everywhere!

so in the US first gens came with d16a DOHC, second gens came with b18a and then 92-93 gsr had b17 in them. then the third gens had b18b(ls), b18c1(gsr), and b18c5(type r)

in jdm land there's a whole lot of everything going on there. i know that the DA chassis's were running around with b16 stock, so technically SkertySkerty is right, just on the wrong side of the world. CleanLikeJdm is right too in the US, but in jdm land, they had ZC motors, pretty much the same things as d16. i don't know when the b16 came out, in japan there's hella more integra models and stock motors flying around for anyone to get confused.

but to answer the OP's question, the reason people put b16s's in a DA is probably because it's a cheap VTEC motor.

I think you are thinking of the first gen integra's, they came with smaller b16 motors. 2nd gen's all came with a b18 motor, except for the few that were able to get the GSR that came with a b17. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me, but I do believe SkertySkerty is wrong.

My friend put a b16 in his DA because he needed a motor, the b16 was available, cheaper than buying a b18c and put out more power than his stock motor that was ruined.

I will be installing a B16a into my 92 RS because you can get the whole low mileage (40K miles) swap with a short geared tranny for dirt cheap. Then I will send my B18A block off to Golden Eagle to get sleeved to 2.0. When it returns, I will build that 2.0 VTEC beast that I always wanted. With the B16A swap, you can use the head and tranny and pistons if you were going to stay with the stock bore, and then sell the B16A block to recover some more money.

Take off the 17" wheels and you will be surprised at the outcome. The DA6 XSi and RSi (the models in Japan that were B16A equipped) came stock with 14" wheels. Try using lightweight 14" or 15" wheels on the car and it will make a world of difference.

If i was you i would get an ls only because one they are more of a low mantinance engine, compared to the b16 cause u dont gotta worry about v-tec. and plus out of experience i beat two of my friend with b16s in thier da's and i beat the **** out of my car everyday....it runs just as good as when i bought it...(my opinion)
