Default unorthodox flywheel and pulley?

I've installed an unorthodox flywheel and race pulley in my 90 civic hatch with a b18a.
Reason I purchase this was my buddy installed it in his stock del sol and I felt a pretty big difference in his car way better acceleration. But when I installed it in my car there was no difference not that I can feel. Did I do something wrong, is it just my motor? Or did I just wasted my money on something that is not really needed for performance.
