Default I'm being offered a Type R for my boosted EM1

Here is the Type R for sale. I'm asking for more pictures and information at the moment. He said he's owned this for a few years and wants a new car to drive. He's says it's like driving any old car.

Here's my car. I just recently converted back to NA, but I still have all of the FI stuff. Just let me know what you guys think about this. I think I could trade, but maybe he should fork some money over for the deal. Thanks for your comments. I've always loved both the ITR and EM1.

Haven't looked at either of links... but my immediate thought was "hell yeah i would trade". Things to ask the owner of the car if you haven't already.....

- Clean Title? (Thats a biggie)
- Everything original?
- Any incidents whatsoever?

The R by itself will hold its resale value much much more than the EM1 right now. It would not be a bad move on your part IMO.

<----- thinks maybe he needs to take a look at both links quick!

Edit: Not sure how GREAT of an idea this is afterall. Lot of missing parts and non-original items. I would be a bit wery.

Sorry but it looks like you'd be exchanging problems/issues for more problems/issues.

IMHO I wouldn't do it.

but that's just IMO.

Best of luck.

didnt he say he was leaving the country?

as for the OP, if the title is clean, i would jump on the deal. but i honestly would not pay 17k for your em1 though. gl

Wow...some quick responses already. Thanks.

I haven't asked why he hasn't left yet. I started out at 17K for my car because the price usually comes down.

Thanks. I didn't know I was having problems?

He states the title is clean. I'll just do some due diligence, but wanted some opinions of those who own a Type R.

No one states that they are having problems when they try to sell used cars.

Run the VIN.

What's the cars history?

I'd trade if the title's clean... The car looks a lot like mine right now, I put my polished Type-R wheels back on.

Anyway, I'd do it. Nice avatar by the way.

sounds like it has a salvaged title. someone was asking him for papers on the motor and he said he'd look for them. And gsr leather seats cause he had spoon seats and sold them? Sounds like BS to me, that still doesn't explain why he doesn't have the rear seats. Sounds like this car was stripped before

Here's my thread on it... I got busy towards the end of the project, so it took a while to get done. But it'll give you a good idea of what's involved.

PM me if you have any questions, so we don't ***** this guy's thread.

you want 17000 for your SI? That is way too much for that car. Just take the type r and run, don't rice out the type r in the process however.

not a good idea to buy a car off of IA, but like Black R said get it checked out first.

if the R is clean, I wouldnt hisitate. And your Si isnt worth what you are asking. id offer you around $10k and tell you to take it or leave it. Even if the R is salvage, its worth the trade IMO.

I didnt think twice to give up my Civic for my R.

^ Agree... My buddy had a boosted '00 MR EM1, with a built engine, and the same GReddy kit, Gram Light 57Ss, Ground Controls, Koni Yellows, nice and clean, 50,000 some odd miles... He was getting solid offers for $10,000-$12,000. And no offense, but his car was MUCH nicer.

A few months later it was flooded in one of Wilmington's famous hurricanes.

Don't make sense how the "R" guy would want to down grade for a rice boosted EM1.
If hes reading this thread...better investment to put $$ back onto his R.

thats a tuff one, i would probably do the trade if he has a clean legit b18c5 swap and it runs good/car feels good

now time for hater-teching, are you high?? even if your car had 500 whp and a fully built engine in your chasis if wouldnt be worth 17k 17k is alot of money, you can buy an evo for that much or a completely flawless clean title itr, or a nice mercedes, or clean pimped out 11 second honda, or a registerd jdm itr/ctr

but good luck with the trade

Thanks for your inputs guys. I take no offense. I've heard too many people deficate all over themselves telling me about my ride. It's what this site has come to unfortunately.

Although the deal seems good, I'm sure I'll wait until the time is right. I'm sure there are better deals out there. Besides...It would be nice just to keep the Si for a while. I just bought a house and don't need another thing to worry about. I know the Si is a good car and I know what I have done to it. I do not know the history of the R.

Thanks for your inputs and opinions.

I'd sell the EM1 outright and then look for a nice stockish ITR...thats what I plan on doing w/ my 00 Si when I get back to the states.
