Default Crank pulley tool, The wrong one???

I have a D16Z6 in my crx and I'm trying to change the timing belt. I seem to be stuck at getting the crank pulley bolt off.

So I bought this tool but it turns out that my crank pulley does not have the hex-shape cut out for this thing.

Is it the wrong tool or am I missing something obvious

Hmm that doesnt even look big enough for a crank bolt. How would it fit on their isnt the pulley bolt inside the pulley also?? You are talkin about the underdrive pulley right

does your pulley have holes in the middle? if so, i think theres a tool that bolts to those holes rather then the hex shape. p.s. i would keep the tool you bought and just upgrade your curent pulley to one that has the hex shape...makes life so much easier!!

just bring it to a shop with a big 1" gun and have em blast if off then put it back on just not as tight so you can get it off at home

or lock up the flywheel from the bottom on one of the edges and u will be able to break it with a breaker bar.

yeah lock up the flywheel by jamming a needle nose pliers through the teeth of the flywheel and then use a breaker bar to break loose the crank bolt.

I'd definately keep that tool and get a crank pully that has the hex in it for when you put it back together. I've never heard of a tool to fit in the holes, but I remember reading a thread around here somewhere where they just jammed a screwdriver through the hole to hold it. It apparently worked but it tore up the pully (which wouldn't matter if you wre gonna replace the pully with a hex one).

I think I will get that pulley. In the meantime, I'll probably make my own tool to fit in the holes and lock up against something in the motor bay. I'll also look in to getting the starter motor off but I think making my own tool won't be that bad since I have access to CNC anyway.

Thanks dudes
