Noob here, question about seatbelt in an 06 civic
I am just posting this for a friend. His girl has an 06 civic ex, and she doenst like how the seatbelts work. apparently, when the seatbelt is locked in in the driver seat, it tightens up when you step on the brake? and wont loosen again until you hit the gas, is there anyway to change this?
thats what i figured, im a german car man myself, i had just never heard of a seatbelt that tightens when you step on the break, i dont really like the idea all that much. so there is absolutly nothing that can be done to get rid of it? so does that mean that if you are at a stop light and your foot is on the break, you cant lean over to the passenger floor to grab your cd book?
I think that there is a little weighted pendulum with a tooth on it. when you hit the brakes the negative g forces pull it foward into a sproket on the reel that keeps your seatbelt wound. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't all modern seatbelt systems work like this.
my buddy said that like when he is at a full stop he cant move in his seat, so i dunno. both my parents have cars from 05 or up and ive dirven both and never noticed anything like that

tell them to be lighter on the breakes. if it does lock, they have to lean back and let the belt lossen its grip inside the housing. its like those chinese finger things, kinda
i believe its only when to press hard on the pedal, tell them to give it about 5-10 seconds and tug on the belt, should release.
