Default Aftermarket oem replacement valves?

How poor is the quality on aftermarket oem replacement valves? I found 1 intake valve on my b16a head that the stem is a little tweaked, although it seems to seat and lap in just fine. But since it's bent a little I'm not going to re-use it, and it seems that Napa and Autozone can get stock replacement valves (for a b16a3). I'm just wondering on the quality of the valves and whether or not they can handle the same kind of abuse as the original Honda equipment...I believe the autozone one's are made by beck/arnley, not sure about napa's though.

They are made as just that, stock replacement. I wouldn't expect more out of them than I would the rest of them. Napa usually sells quality stuff, at least thats what they claim.

Yeah, I'm not looking for a high quality race valve. If that were the case I'd go for a set of Ferrea valves, but I just need a stock replacement for now. I just want a replacement valve that will still be capable of the same abuse as the stock Honda equipment.

while you're at it, install all new type R valves..obviously it's more out of your wallet...but well worth it..

I've always been told that hype-r valves are +1mm over normal b16 stock, plus the type-r head has a slightly different valve angle to help out. Port velocity is what you want to make power, sometimes bigger is not always better especially on a stock head.

most of the time its the same ****, whether its from autozone or napa or pep boys etc. They are supposed to do what they claim (stock replacement). I would go with napa if you dont wanna go to honda!

the only stock replacement non oem valves i have seen are poor quality. if i were you i would go to honda and buy a stock valve. from what you say it seems you are just replacing one so thats what 18 dollars maybe?? if you cant afford that then you shouldnt be in this game.....

shawn

let me add that the replacement valves i seen were not stainless at all. honda oem valves are stainless except the top of the vavle stem.

Type R valves are the same diameter as all other b series vtec valves. They have an undercut stem and a shaved down face. They flow better and are lighter. They hands down make more power. Only the intakes are different. Exhausts are the same as b16.

Basicly I just wanted to replace a valve that had a bent stem, although it would still need to take the normal oem valve abuse. So far I've done 2 things...ordered an aftermarket replacement from Napa, and also within the next couple of days will be scoring a complete oem b16 valvetrain. I figure if the valvetrain deal falls through, I'll at least have the valve I need and can compare it to the oem ones to see how bad it really is. I used 2 of Napa's replacement beck/Arnley valves in my subaru legacy and they've held up quite well, but redline on that is only 6500rpm.
