Default not sure what crx i have...

i recently bought a 1988 crx from a guy selling it for $250 (blown motor) . he claimed it was an hf but all badging has been removed... i started working on it and found it has a d15b7 (block at least) which i read was never in an hf. the head has 16 valves but i think the hf is an 8 valve motor. also, the exhaust mani has a catalytic converter and the intake mani is really small. im just wondering if the previous owner swapped the long block or something, or maybe i just have my info all mixed up...

i think d15b2 is dpfi DX i think the mpfi d15b7 in the eeand ef chassis are the HF's then the d15b7 became the mpfi DX motor in the EH-EG chassis like 92-95 and the cx was d15b8 8 valve in the EG/EH those are what i remeber off the top of my head if they are 100% im not too sure but if you wondered where else those motors were used there it is , if someone would like to garuntee the info please do so, but im almost positive i dont have anything mixed up
